Mainland Poultry Tripod Blockade
_ On the morning of 25th June 2012, the Coalition to End Factory Farming successfully blockaded the only vehicle access road into Mainland Poultry, New Zealand's largest battery hen farm.
The road was blockaded with three seven-metre high tripods with two activists suspended on two of the tripods. One activist locked on to the gate of the farm. The action is to continue the campaign against caged hen farming and oppose the prospect of the introduction of colony cages as an alternative to battery cages. The blockade lasted over 11 hours. Three activists were arrested but were released without charge. Animal Freedom Aotearoa (AFA) is a grassroots organisation committed to achieving animal liberation.
